Sun Surf Veterinary Hospital is proud to offer internal medicine to help your animal.

Did you know
…veterinarians who study internal medicine work with patients that are suffering from nonspecific signs such as lethargy, weight loss, appetite loss, vomiting, and many others.

Internal medicine is the branch of medicine that deals with the inside of an animal’s body. It is more complex than what most regular veterinarians are used to dealing with.

Internal Medicine at Sun Surf Veterinary Hospital

Our entire staff is dedicated to ensuring that your pet gets back to normal as soon as possible. After a technician gets your pet’s history, our veterinarian will perform a thorough examination. At that time, we will go through your options.

We will need to diagnose your pet before we are able to move ahead with a treatment plan. We routinely perform thorough workups, which includes blood work. We may require some imaging, such as x-rays, ultrasounds, or something else. If needed, we may have to run more precise tests to figure out what is wrong with your pet.

Once we have a diagnosis, we will go over your treatment options. It is always our goal to get your animal feeling better as quickly as possible, so if we can, we will start treatment right away. We have a pharmacy full of medications to get your pet back on track. We also offer hospitalization for pets that need IV catheters and extra care.

Some of the most common diseases we treat:

  • Endocrine disorders such as hypo and hyperthyroidism
  • Cushing’s disease and Addison’s disease
  • Infections and inflammation
  • Blood diseases
  • Cancer
  • A wide variety of other diseases also.
